Hugo!
Each day after lunch recess Miss Frank reads to the class. Earlier this month it was from the Caldecott Award winning The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Thanks to the Charlevoix Waterfront Artfair Committee/Council for the Arts all third and fourth grade students are going to get to go see the movie that was based on the book: Hugo. The movie was directed by Martin Scorsese and is nominated for best picture. We are going Wednesday, February 1, but students need to return the permission slips that were sent home today. It will be interesting to hear if Miss Frank pronounced the French names correctly!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!
Happy Thanksgiving Day to one and all! There will be no school Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week for the holiday. I am thankful for all of my wonderful students and their supporting parents! Enjoy some turkey, even though there is no turkey in this drawing from art class!

BrainPop!
Each morning during snack the class watches a BrainPop video. The animated movies are "curriculum-based content that engages students, supports educators, and bolsters achievement." Topics cover all subjects and many current events. After each video the class works together to answer quiz questions. You can see the featured video of the day at the bottom of this blog.

Snack Time!
Each morning we have snack and Miss Frank reads from a chapter book. Students should bring their own snack to school each day. Donations throughout the year of a box or two of graham crackers for students who forget their snack would really help out. Everyone has been great about sending in the games, tissues, wipes, and baggies that were asked for. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
